CHAPEM is a consulting company, created by Dr. Omar Bekri After having acquired a solid 20 years’ experience in oil shale development projects. CHAPEM is devoted to developing projects in the fields of mining, energy and construction materials.

CHAPEM is expert in the R&D management of mining and energy projects and has benefited, since its creation, from the expertise of Dr. Omar Bekri especially in the management of R&D activities in Moroccan oil shale projects conducted by large oil companies. CHAPEM is one of the national leaders consulting companies in this field.

Oil shales are mostly known worldwide for energy extraction, but they can also be activated and used for ecological purposes. CHAPEM has been a pioneer in this domain and was awarded the 1998 Hassan II Grand Prize for Innovation for its creative process for the treatment of polluted water by activated oil shale. With its versatile expertise, CHAPEM is also involved in the development of construction materials from oil shale with the objective of finalizing R&D and engineering works to pave the way to the first project in Morocco of cement production using oil shale.
